As early as 2005, when during his art studies he worked as a volunteer at the Biala Gallery in Lublin, he already drew everything that happened in his surroundings, as curator Jan Gryka recalls. It turned out that this form of documentation was very inciting for the exhibition viewers. That is why the curator decided to exhibit the entire drawing series as a kind of “report”, marking the start of Tarkawian’s artistic career. Since then he has produced numerous cycles of drawings: Peeped Drawings, Looking for Art, Potential Artists. In April 2006 he founded a drawing company called “Szybki Bill” (Speedie Gonzales) that offers the following service:

“He draws as fast as a machine and sharper than a digital camera; he draws when it rains, in winter, at night, and in extremely hard situations.”

The artist cooperates with the Polish culture magazine ZOOM, for which he publishes a new drawing every month.

This year, Mariusz Tarkawian was awarded the Goslarer Kaiserringstipendium für junge Kunst that concludes with a solo exhibition (09/26/09 - 01/31/2010) in the Mönchehaus Museum Goslar.
